Host Gator Reviews

As a website designer, one of the many questions I get asked by clients is which website hosting company provides good, reliable services.

In my opinion, website host should provide more than just server and disk space on which I upload my website and forget about it. I need constant access to the websites files, therefore the ease of use of the CPanel is crucial. Just as important is the technical support service. Another important consideration are features such as databases and website design platforms. I tried many hosts before, with mixed experiences, but currently I am with Hostgator, and they provide one of the best services around at present.

Please note that this is a review. If you want to visit the Hostgator website, CLICK HERE.

Hostgator was started in 2002, and it currently hosts over 8,000,000 domains, with more than 150,000 customers. The customer service is excellent, and their support is great. They provide hosting packages for businesses and individuals . Their offer of 45 day money back guarantee with no contract typifies their confidence in the services they provide.

Main Features

  • The provide 3 plans: Hatchling (the basic) which starts at $3.96 a month; the Baby plan at $6.36; and the Business plan which is $10.36 a month.
  • New features are regularly added to the CPanel which helps to keep customers up to date with new technology, and the CPanel is very easy to use.
  • Hostgator has a reliable secure hardware and they provide telephone support as well as live online chat. If you prefer, there’s a ticket system for you to use.
  • Free domain, website and MySQL transfer.
  • Unlimited MySQL databases with phpMyAdmin.
  • Discount coupons are available.
  • The billing process is easy to use.
  • No signup fee required, and customers are not obliged to signup for longer than month to month service.
  • They offer web design and domain registration services.
  • Domain name registration costs approximately $12.
  • They have a very low downtime because they have their own data centre, which is a great asset.

The negative blur on the Hostgator services is that they do not yet provide Web 2.0 support, and their video tutorial is rather brief and not very helpful. Also, I don’t make use of is their domain registration, which I think is more expensive than comparable sites.
